Chapter 4 1809

I quickly ran after the kid, bullets thudding after me. What I saw next surprised me greatly; in front of me was a large iron door. On the front of the door was an emblem of a P entwined inside a vine! The sign of the Pendemate! Quickly I sketched it in my notebook that I always kept tucked in my shirt.

The kid peered out from behind the door and whispered “Come on, hurry, get in here.”

“All right” I whispered back. As soon as I stepped inside I gasped in surprise. Lying in front of me was several open lockers that contained all sorts of armor, swords, gold and golden weapons.

I turned around and saw that Anonde had fitted himself with a light breastplate and he was holding a sword.

“Suit up, mister.” He said. I looked around and saw a golden breastplate and a shield with the emblem of the pendemate on it.

“You might want this, sir.” I heard a gruff but seasoned voice say. I looked up to see a man in leather armor standing there holding a sword out to me. The sword was gold with rubies embedded in the hilt, but the sword was not what caught my attention. It was the figure holding the sword that caught my attention.

“Romiv?” I said in question looking up at the tall white haired man, who was holding the sword out to me.

“Yes, James it is me. Anonde you have suited him up well.” He said calmly even though we could here bullets thunking harshly into the inner wall.

“You know him?” I asked now completely bewildered.

“Yes, he is my son.” He replied now with an edge in his voice.

By now I was too confused to ask any more questions, so I took the sword from Romiv and, holding the sword high declared, “ Let us destroy the enemy who seeks our death and our treasure!”

“Yes indeed let us protect what is rightfully ours.” Said Romiv now holding a bronze sword.

We quickly ran out the door into the main room in which there was a group of men looking for an entrance and a woman standing on the table and shouting at the men to hurry up. As soon as the men saw us they grabbed their guns and brought them around to bear. We charged screaming incoherently at them to surrender. They did not surrender instead they swung their heavy guns up at us . We knocked their guns aside with our swords before they shot, sending their bullets into the ceiling. They dropped their ineffective guns and grabbed their swords and we all entered close-quarters combat. I was no swordsman and was having trouble keeping ground, suddenly the man I was facing swept his sword in a wide arc slashing a large gash in my armor and knocking me aside.

Past then everything was in a strange haze. I was laying on the ground bleeding and screaming and Romiv was twirling his sword insanely fast chopping enemies with a determination I had never seen before. Anonde was a blur running and jumping like a tiger.

When I woke up again I was in the main room alone and there was blood and slashed body’s laying all over the room. I was sitting on the base of the statue of Athena. I realized that I must have fallen unconscious from blood loss; I had no idea how long I had been out. I braced my elbow against Athena’s shield that was lying on the ground below her. Then I noticed something strange, on the handle of the shield was the sign of the Pendemate. But one of the vines was crooked I went up to it and pushed on the crooked vine. The statue creaked and the lid of the book that the statue was holding. Inside was the Pendemate.

It was a treasure renowned for the people of the land, But at such costs. Now to figure out the mystery of Romiv and Anonde…

Chapter 3 1809

"Hello?" I said wonder what kind of poor creature had been living in the walls all this time undiscovered.

"Yes, Hello let me help you." As the last word came a young boy jumped down. The first thing I noticed was that he was holding a cutlass in a not so friendly manner, but when he saw me and the pool of blood around me he quickly lowered it and pulled a roll of bandages from his knapsack. He quickly bandaged my shoulder. He then asked me who I was.

"James Venigo" I replied with interest "Who are you?"

"Anonde Jarting, why are you here?" he replied with a fine voice that seemed strange if he had been living in the walls his whole life. Suddenly a bullet shattered the wall next to him. He looked ath the hole in the wall as a giant looks at a fly. "Quickly we must go to the armory."

"Armory?" I said in question.

Chapter 2 1809

I looked around the room quickly and noticed something something strange and unnerving. The librarian was missing he had absolutely vanished, but on his desk lay a letter adressed to James Venigo, which was me. Inside was a map of the library and a message.
It said :

James
run and hide but don't let them find it. go behind wisdom
romiv

Romiv is the librarian. I understood the first part of the letter because he was helping me find the Pendemate. The second part of it made no sense. I glanced up and noticed a statue of Athena, the greek goddess of battle and wisdom.

I went up to it and looked behind it. At first I saw nothing, then I noticed a small lever behind a pamphlet the statue held. I quickly grabbed the lever and pulled.

At first nothing happened and I started to panic but then a small hidden door opened on the statue's pedastool. I quickly slipped into it and closed it just as the other people burst through the doors and screamed at me. I heard the crack of a pistol being fired and realized that I was being fired upon. I glanced for ward and saw what seemed to be the inside of the library walls! I heard another crack then fell in pain as a bullet hit me in the shoulder and twisted me around. as I lay on the floor I heard someone say "psst, up here."

chapter 1 1809

The cool winter breeze chilled the room but large hearths in every room kept the massive building warm. I spent most of my time in this ancient library researching the Pendemate.

The Pendemate was an ancient Scottish scripture describing how our ancestors discovered and claimed this land. It had amazing historical content but it also told of where our ancestors buried their treasure. The treasure was said to contain mostly royal treasures. I personaly was more interested in the historical content, but gold did have perks.

Suddenly, I heard a large crack followed by an even louder boom. The front gate fell in. Someone else was looking for the pendemate. I had little time.
